The construction team oversees the project as a whole, providing feedback on design decisions and leading the site works during the build portion of the competition. They will be in charge of estimating and purchasing, creating progress reports, producing project schedules, and acting as project coordinators during the design cycle. During the build stage, the team will create safety videos and work with sub-contractors to ensure safety and quality.

Interested in becoming a member of the construction team?


  • Assisting with the development of the Project Management Plan

  • Using MS Project to define and sequence construction activities and develop a preliminary and final project schedule

  • Developing cost estimates using market research and construction data such as RSMeans

  • Working with the finance team to manage cost estimates and budget updates

  • Participating in the procurement process including reviewing contractor bids, ordering materials, and coordinating logistics

  • Monitoring and reviewing construction work as it pertains to schedule and budget

  • Tracking production and ensuring project stays on schedule and budget

  • Developing weekly construction progress reports

  • Overlooking subcontractors to ensure safety and quality

  • Creating safety videos

  • Managing project documentation

Candidate Requirements:

  • Able to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to the team

  • Great project administration and management skills

  • Able to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

  • General understanding of the construction process

  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Passion for sustainability

  • Safety mindset

Candidate Preferences:

  • Third or fourth year civil engineering student

  • Some knowledge with modeling in Revit

  • Experience using project management software such as MS Project, Primavera

  • Hands-on construction experience

  • CIVL 300 or equivalent
