Electrical

Our electrical team tackles power and lighting plan design, daylighting models, distribution circuits, solar array optimization, and more! Some past areas of focus also include energy load tracking, energy use optimization, outage resilience, and system agility in the face of climate change.

Interested in becoming a member of the electrical team?

Responsibilities:

  • Designing electrical building systems in accordance with BC Building Code, BC Energy Step Code, Canadian Electrical Code

    • Power distribution

    • Lighting (daylighting analysis and artificial lighting)

    • Life safety and fire alarm systems

    • Telecommunications

  • Drafting electrical risers and one-line diagrams

  • Collaborating with the energy sub-team to design on-site solar generation and interaction with BC Hydro electricity grid

  • Collaborating with the mechanical sub-team on sensors, equipment, and control algorithms for mechanical systems

  • Researching and implementing novel electrical solutions for green buildings

  • Attending weekly team meetings

Candidate Requirements:

  • Able to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to the team

  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision

  • Willing to learn new things and ask questions

  • Passionate about sustainability

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficient in Excel

Candidate Preferences:

  • ELEC 202 or equivalent or basic knowledge of electrical circuits and power systems

  • Previous experience with electrical systems in buildings

  • Previous experience with AutoCAD, Revit, DIALux, or daylighting software
